Project Abstract

We examined vacant lots in the Southcrest and Logan Heights area of San Diego, hoping to find one fit to become a community garden. We stumbled upon a vacant lot near the San Diego Cooperative Charter School 2 (SDCCS 2) and realized it was the ideal lot and location for a future community garden. After further exploration of the area, we learned that the students and residents in this community had extremely low accessibility to fresh and local produce. Starting a community garden on the vacant lot near SDCCS 2 would be ideal to bring healthier food options to the community.
