Keith Pezzoli, Ph.D.

Dr. Pezzoli's research and publications focus on sustainability science and how human-nature relations interact in the development of cities and regions around the world. He joined the Department of Communication at the University of California, San Diego in July 2014 where he teaches, conducts research and serves as the Director of UCSD's Urban Studies and Planning (USP) Program. Since 2000, Pezzoli has been leading the Community Engagement and Research Translation efforts of UCSD’s Superfund Research Center funded by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS). He is also leading a cluster of interlinked research projects and educational initiatives focused on Urban Agriculture and Food Disparities for the UC Global Food Initiative. Pezzoli's teaching expertise includes scholarship of engagement, urban world systems, environmental politics, food justice, bioregional theory and sustainable development. He currently directs the research Lab for Sustainablity Science, Planning and Design.
